The majority of the needles are used in the human field in Japan, US, South Korea, Taiwan, Russia, Turkey and Malaysia. The type of steel used is stronger and of better quality than the quality used by many other manufacturers. Where other needles simply break if a strong force is applied, KRUUSE needles bend and regain their original shape. All needles are hand-made (drilled) and every single needle is visually inspected after production to ensure the required high quality. Both peel pack sutures with welded needles and loose needles are of the same high quality. Classification of needles Needles can be divided in different ways: Round vs. cutting needles, and finally the shape of the needle Needles Round Cutting Shape Intracutaneous/intradermal skin closure Close cutis intradermal/intracutaneous with contineous suturing pattern Monofast Taperpoint Reverse cutting 1/2 circle 3-0 3-0 or 2-0 2-0 Taperpoint extra Conventional cutting 3/8 circle Oral surgery Suturing of gingiva Closure of wound/site after extraction Use an interruptured pattern to close the incision or gap after of teeth extraction. Most of our ½ circle needles are round bodied and most of the 3/8 circle needles are reverse cutting. Micropoint spatula needle This type of needle is a special needle for ophthalmic surgery. The needle is flat and thin and has an extremely sharp cutting edge, which makes it suitable for penetration between the layers of scleral or corneal tissue. 22 mm 22 mm 19 mm 17 mm mm 26 24 mm 26 mm 22 mm 24 mm 24 mm mm 22 30 mm 26 mm 30 mm 24 mm 36 mm 24 mm 24 mm 26 mm 30 mm 26 26 mm 30 mm 36 mm 26 mm 40 mm 40 mm mm 30 48 mm 36 48 mm mm 45 mm 36 mm 26 mm 30 mm 30 36 mm mm 36 mm 40 30 mm 40 mm Closure of subcutis Simple continous pattern Monofast, Sacryl, PGA 48 mm 40 mm 36 mm 40 39 mm 48 mm 48 mm 48 mm 40 mm 36 mm 65 mm Reverse cutting needle Skin closure, non-absorbable Simple interrupted surgical knots Nylon, Promilene, Krupramid Reverse cutting needles have a triangular shape in cross section, with the apex cutting edge on the outside of the needle. The trocar point has a very sharp tip, and this type of needle is often used in the skin. 90 mm Round bodied needles Round bodied needles are commonly used in soft tissue where separation of tissue fibers is preferred, rather than cutting the fibers apart. This would be preferable when suturing e.g. intestine, where the tissue closes tightly around the suture after passage of the needle. Round bodied taperpoint needle Taperpoint is the most common tip of round bodied needles. The taperpoint provides easy and tissue-preserving penetration by the needle. The outermost part of the tip (less than 0.5 mm) is drilled on three sides, i.e. working with this type of needle is a matter of preference, as it may appear to be sharper than traditional round-bodied taper point needle. Round bodied tapercut needle Subcutis Close subcutis with either simple interrupted (if much tension on the wound) or simple continous suturing pattern if needed Simple interrupted surgical knots Monofast, Sacryl, PGA Skin closure, non-absorbable Nylon, Promilene, Krupramid A round bodied needle with a cutting point; this needle gives good and easy penetration in tough tissues with little tissue trauma.
